I KEEP HIS DREAMS
In his bed, in his sunset
He looked into my eyes and then said
“Here are the final keys.
Never forget ‘em when I’m gone please.
An honest heart makes a good man
And a calm mind is a gold mine.
Never drink from the eye-catching cup of hate
And when they bury you-please germinate.”
I was in college chasing knowledge
A week later when the message came from a good sage.
Said, “Your father, has gone to join our ancestors.”
A brook of salt waters; a bird with broken feathers.
I keep his photo, I keep his
dreams, I keep his hopes.
I hope I make him smile up
there before my heart
stops!
