“People are never satisfied. If they have a little, they want more. If they have a lot, they want still more. Once they have more, they wish they could be happy with little, but are incapable of making the slightest effort in that direction.”
― Paulo Coelho, The Winner Stands Alone
Today I am pondering upon a question. In your whole life, have you ever get to the point on which you can say that yes! I am satisfied on whatever have. I do not need anything in my life anymore?
For me, it is a “NO”. No I am not satisfied and I was not ever. I want to achieve much more in my life. Perhaps everyone else do. It’s enthralling how quickly our lives adjust to reaching a goal: We get our desired job and soon, start wondering when the next promotion will come.
We all have different goals and dreams in life. And we often think we’ve reached the top of the mountain, only to realize it was really just the base of another, larger one. And so we start out again. Generally, this works: If we had to reach the pinnacle all at once, we might be too panic-stricken to begin.
Actually our adventure extends as long as we live, and in the event that we ever think we’ve made it as far as possible, we may confine ourselves. This is the reason why many of us never feel genuinely upbeat, or completely satisfied. We need to see the current objective as a destination because that enables us to feel a feeling of sureness, absolution, and accomplishment when we achieve it—as it should.
In any case, there is another piece that frequently gets lost, which is that we’re commonly in a condition of progress or in the state of change. It’s not tied in with needing more, but rather about being available for where we are, and the people we’ve become at each new phase of our adventures. It’s not explicitly about the better employment, home, or relationship—in all actuality wherever we are; there will dependably be something more to go after.
Setting new goals is very substantial, but before moving to the next step, we need to appreciate ourselves. We must stop for a while and look around, stop to look what we have achieved yet. Then set new goals and start effort to achieve them. New goal is a challenge and setting a positive and successive goal is a blessing. For me to be unsatisfied about success and achievements is not a curse.
Think about where you are in your adventure. Have you reached to the destination on one goal and enjoying your position? Or are you already preparing for the next one? Maybe you’re in the middle of your struggling to make it through. Wherever you are, you can enjoy your struggle. There’s something worth enjoying from every point in your journey.
very well said…. we should cherish each moment… our struggle, god times, bad times and all… all is to enjoy and learn and adventure
Very well explained?
Thank you !
